AboutDurrus Football Club was formed in 1993, adding another game to the sporting community. Playing our home games at the Community Field in Durrus we enjoy good support which has recently been reflected with our climb up the West Cork League. In the season 2002/03 we gained promotion from Division 2 after finishing runners-up to Caheragh then going on to beat Lissarda 2-1 in the play-off at Skibbereen. Managed by Mike Daly, we continued our good form by finishing runners-up in Division 1 in the 03/04 season and our strength was shown as we also went on to lift the Division 1 cup by beating Skibbereen 2-1 at Drinagh. Our stay in the Premier Division was a short lived one and then two seasons ago we were relegated again, back to Div 2. This coming season (09/10) we have a completely new look to the side with a lot of new faces coming in and expectations will be high. Geoff Woods will be the manager once again and he will be looking for some rewards for his efforts. We had an U18 team for four seasons but with a lack of players and, more importantly, a lack of administration, we have had to shelf things until players and management can be found. The same story seems to apply to the U12 side, The lads had two good seasons culminating in them winning the U12 Shield in 2007/08 but last season was a struggle with players going missing, fixtures were a disaster and, once again, the difficulties in finding administrators was always the main problem so this team too has been shelved for the time being. Durrus F.C. are continuing to improve with each season and are always on the lookout for new and exciting players to help us to achieve our goal of winning the Premier Division. Many thanks and words of praise go to our main sponsors Ross's Bar, in Durrus . Also to all those involved including Chairman Adam Sheehan, Secretary Eric Farrell, Treasurer Dan Crowley and Head Groundsman Eoin Hourihane. Finally and most importantly we would like to thank our faithful following of supporters who make themselves heard wherever you find the lads playing.
